Safety Day for local fourth grade students
From Staff Reports
More than 650 fourth grade students and teachers, from six Hays CISD campuses, will participate in Progressive Ag’s Safety Day on Friday, May 16, at the PAC (Performing Arts Center) parking lot. The event will help the students recognize potential hazards and promote safe practices as they rotate through 10, 20-minute sessions focused on topics such as electrical safety, roadway safety and sun safety.
Youth and adult volunteers are needed to help make the event successful. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities such as serving as a group leader, assembling student and teacher take home bags, and helping serve morning refreshment and lunch to volunteers. Even if help can only be provided for a few hours, it is greatly appreciated. All volunteers are provided a Safety Day t-shirt, morning refreshments and lunch as well as water throughout the day. This is a great leadership and service activity for youth volunteers. Anyone interested can contact Laura Petty at (512) 393-2120 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Also needed are items for the student and teacher take home bags. Items could include safety information, pencils, bookmarks, sunscreen, etc. We will also need either bottled water for all students, teachers and volunteers. Anyone wishing to contribute items can contact Laura Petty at (512) 393-2120 or email@example.com. Any contributions are greatly appreciated, and recognition will be provided.
