Bluebonnet Lions pick Alexander for the club’s top annual award
Linda Alexander has been awarded the Lion of the Year by the San Marcos Bluebonnet Lions Club in recognition of her commitment to Lionism.
Alexander joined Lions in 1984 as a Charter Member of the San Marcos Lioness Club which re-chartered to the Bluebonnet Lions Club in 1992.
She is currently serving as the club’s Vice President. Past offices held include Treasurer, Membership Director, Vice President and Tail Twister. Other honors include perfect attendance for 25 years and Lion of the Month multiple times.
“This award was such a surprise to me because we have so many deserving and hard working Bluebonnet Lions in our club,” she said.
“It is especially meaningful because it’s a secret vote by my fellow Lions and this makes it all the more significant and an honor I will cherish always.”
Being part of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs International, the Bluebonnets are able to serve the needs of those less fortunate within San Marcos as well as globally.
Some projects include promoting sight preservation through eyeglass recycling, assisting with providing eyeglasses to school children in need and encouraging diabetes awareness as the disease is a leading cause of blindness.
