Laura Nell has been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation.
Established in 1973, the fellowship is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, and is the highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service.

All Melvin Jones Fellows’ names are inscribed permanently on the bricks inside the main entrance of Lions Clubs International Headquarters in Oakbrook, Ill.
A Lion for nine years, Nell has served the local Bluebonnet Lions Club as membership director, secretary, vice president, president and Bobcat Lions Club Guiding Lion.
On a district level, Nell has been the District Lion chair, zone and region chair, board member of the Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit and the Texas Eye Bank. Currently she is the Guiding Lion for the Austin Longhorn Campus Lions Club.
Nell has received numerous Lion awards including a Silver Spur reserved for outstanding service as a first year club member, a Gold Spur, a District Governor’s Appreciation Award, International President’s Certificate of Appreciation, Life Member of the Texas Lions Camp, 100 Percent President Award, plus various perfect attendance and Lion of the Month awards.
