San Marcos — Exploring family lineage just got a whole lot easier.
The San Marcos-Hays County Genealogical Society will sponsor a genealogy workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. April 12 at the First American Lutheran Church, 130 W. Holland St. in San Marcos.
A combination of out-of-town and local speakers will address a variety of topics relevant to modern genealogical research. A representative from Family Tree DNA of Houston, a pioneer in the use of DNA testing in family history research, will address that topic.
Also, a representative from the State Land Office will discuss the use of maps in family history research. Other speakers will address the use of the Internet, photography restoration, how to interest children in genealogy, cemetery research and the use of deed records in genealogical research.
A $25 registration fee includes morning snacks and lunch. People can register at 396-2978 or 353-8672. Registration is not required.
