Wimberley — With a repertoire that ranges from Peggy Lee to Billie Holiday to Nat King Cole, vocalist Kat Edmonson and her band will sink their claws into the audience’s heart.
The Kat’s Meow will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Wimberley United Methodist Church as part of the ongoing Susanna’s Kitchen series.
Susanna’s Kitchen is a monthly coffeehouse hosted by the church on the third Thursday of the month in the WUMC fellowship hall and is open to the public. Wimberley UMC is located at the corner of RR 12 and CR 1492. More Information at 847-3109.
The Kat’s Meow features vocalist Edmonson, led by guitarist/ composer Slim Smiles Richey, along with bassist Francie Meaux Jeaux.
Edmonson’s musical debut came at age 19 with American Idol when it aired her audition at the onset of the second season. The verdict from Simon was that non only was her sound equal to Doris Day, but that her audition was “100 percent totally authentic for the type of song she chose.”
Edmonson’s audition led her to California, where she finished in the top 50.
Richey, referred to by his peers as “the most dangerous guitarist in Texas,” has played and recorded with Herb Ellis, Marc Johnson, Maryann Price, Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs and Ray Price, toured Japan twice, Italy three times and is known for his blues and gypsy jazz.
Jeaux is a veteran of the San Miguel de Allende jazz festival in Mexico and has played with Michelle Shocked, Dan Hicks, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis and Maryann Price.
