The annual gathering of the Fritz and Augusta Ficke Family took place on Saturday, April 25 at the San Marcos Luby's.
The family meets each year to commemorate the arrival of their German immigrant ancestors.
In 1883 Fritz Ficke made his way to Texas from northern Germany, and the following year Augusta Ficke and the five children, ages ranging from 1-9 years, joined him. Three more children were born to this family in Texas.
While the family settled in Redwood, many of the descendants attended school and university in San Marcos, and some still make their home and are in business here.
Twenty-six attended this year's Ficke family reunion.
Participants included Wallace and Lila Dockall; Marilyn Jo Bauerschlag Wray; Clarence Schlather; Alice Ruth Worley; Bill and Barbara Moeller, Jamie Moeller McMahon; Ernestine, Don, and Mark Hofmann; Jim and Kathy Benson; Maxine, Morgan, and Christel Stautzenberger, Mary Kay Davis; Stephen, Dorothy and Stephanie Parker; Neil and Pat Hector; Rex and Mary Martha Wiegand; Margret Hofmann and Barbara Innis.
