San Marcos — Curtis Parkerson, who grew up in a funeral home owned by his dad, requested to pastor Gary Smith that his memorial service be held on a Sunday “because Sunday funerals get a good draw.”
So Sunday Curtis will get his “good draw.”
A Celebration of Life service for Parkerson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ the Redeemer Church, 107 Centerpoint Road.
Parkerson died on Feb. 24 at the age of 80. He was active in many organizations, including being the “spirit” of General Burleson on the San Marcos Historic Trolley Tours. He and his wife of nearly 60 years, Mona, who died last year, retired to San Marcos nearly 20 years ago.
“They both loved life, people, each other, and they loved to laugh in life,” Smith said.
