Spring Break at the SMPL

Learn to juggle, take in a puppet show or enjoy arts and crafts

From staff reports

San Marcos — The San Marcos Public Library has planned several free special events for kids during Spring Break this week.

Local juggler, Aaron Friend, will be teaching a class on the basics of juggling on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Juggling is a fun way to increase hand-eye coordination as well as building self confidence, Friend says. Ages nine and up are invited to call the library at 393-8200 to register.

The library puppeteers will perform “Rainbow Goblins” on Thursday at 10 and 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Children ages two and up are invited to enjoy this fantastical tale by Ul de Rico filled with color, music and adventure.

The Texas State University Student Reading Council is bringing a Spring Story Festival to the library on Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. They have planned a morning of arts and crafts, stories and activities for children of all ages.

Families are also invited to the library’s monthly concert tonight featuring O’Malarkey!

They play traditional Irish music including jigs, reels and airs with the occasional rollicking sing-along-song.
