San Marcos — As San Marcans welcome the spring season, the walls of the San Marcos Activity Center are likewise filled with budding creativity.
More than 150 artworks from students at all of the San Marcos CISD schools and 10 from the Master’s School fill the walkways at the Walkers’ Gallery. The exhibition is part of Youth Art Month, celebrated across the nation in March.
“Thanks to the long hall of the Walkers’ Gallery, visitors to the San Marcos Activity Center can enjoy the exuberant expressions of young people from San Marcos, from the media explorations of kindergarten to the skilled studies of high school,” said Linda Kelsey-Jones, curator of the Walkers’ Gallery.
The young artists and their families and friends will be on hand at a public reception held 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the Activity Center. The public is invited to see the artwork and hear musical performances by the Hill Country Youth Chorus and instrumental ensembles from San Marcos High School.
Art exhibits at the Walkers’ Gallery are sponsored by the San Marcos Area Arts Council and the city of San Marcos, with support from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
