Music, dirty car art featured at Java Jive

Wimberley — The Katherine Anne Porter School (KAPS) invites everyone to their 10th annual Java Jive fundraiser at Wimberley Market Days Pavilion on Sunday, Nov. 8.

The event kicks off at 2 p.m. with music from Wasted Youth playing 60s and 70s rock and rounds out the evening with contemporary blues from Doyle Bramhall, Sr.

Other local musicians donating their talent include San Marcos’ Terry Hendrix with Lloyd Maines at 3:15, bluesy rock from Van Wilks with Josh Smith at 4:30, and Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones’ danceable Zydeco and Blues at 5:45. Great food, gourmet coffee, live and silent auctions, and other fun activities are also on hand.

Scott Wade, the Dirty Car Artist, will also be in attendance, creating a unique image in dust on the back window of one of KAPS’ school vans. Commemorative personal portraits with the artwork will be available for a $5 donation to the school.

Broadway Bank of Wimberley has pledged to help collect supplies for KAPS through a “Stuff the Bus” campaign that has been making scheduled stops at various locations in Hays County to collect donations.

The last opportunity for giving will be held at Java Jive on Nov. 8. Admission to Java Jive is $10 for adults and $5 for students. For more information about KAPS visit www.kapschool.org or call (512) 847-6867 to find out how you can help. All donations are tax deductible.

KAPS is a free, accredited charter high school in Wimberley serving students in and around the communities of San Marcos, Blanco, Dripping Springs, Kyle, Buda, Canyon Lake, Wimberley and Austin.
