Midnight madness hits local outlet stores Friday
San Marcos — With more than 150,000 people expected to hit the outlet malls this Friday, Celena McGuill has advice for shoppers: Make sure and have plenty of Thanksgiving Turkey the day before.
“They’re going to need the energy,” McGuill, the marketing director for Prime Outlet stores said.
Both Prime and Tanger outlets in San Marcos will open at midnight Thanksgiving night and remain open until 10 p.m. Friday, offering a variety of discounts, giveaways and promotions. The first 500 shoppers to appear at Prime Outlets at midnight in pajamas will receive a gift bag with a free pair of Jockey pajamas and other giveaways, with discounts .
“(Black Friday) is definitely one of the busiest shopping days of the year for us,” McGuill said. “We expect thousands and thousands of customers from all over Texas, the United States and Mexico.”
According to a recent survey released by the National Retail Federation, up to 134 million U.S. consumers may shop for holiday gifts this Thanksgiving weekend, with approximately 77 million Americans expected to hit stores Friday.
And with the legions of shoppers, she says its best to be prepared. Planning ahead, and bringing with you a decent amount of patience, could eliminate a lot of stress.
“I would definitely encourage people to map out their shopping trip (ahead of time,” McGuill said.
She also encourages people to look up midnight offers online so they can better plan their shopping excursion.
