San Marcos — Denise and Bob Benson, beekeeping workshop coordinators, maintain several hives in Hays County.
The San Marcos Area Bee Wranglers will offer a free, four-session workshop at the San Marcos Public Library during the month of January.
Workshop topics include bee biology, basic beekeeping equipment, honey production, Central Texas honey plants and other bee related topics. Students will be encouraged to start their own colonies and a list of reputable suppliers will be provided. It is recommended that students purchase a $12 text book that will be used in class. Books will be available to purchase at the first session and each student will also receive a packet of handouts covering the workshop topics.
Registration is required as there is limited seating. Call the library at 393-8200 for more information and to register. (Photos by Sean Kimmons)
