Amanda Gail Gafford and Steven Ray Johnson were united in marriage Aug. 14, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in San Marcos, Texas. The Rev. Mark Newton performed the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gail and Mary Gafford of San Marcos, Texas. The groom is the son of Evelyn and Ocey Johnson of Cleveland, Texas.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin A-line empire gown with a beaded bodice and chapel train. She carried a bridal bouquet of Carousel roses. Attendants were Gwen James, Matron of Honor, and Avalyn James, Junior Bridesmaid. The attendants wore watermelon-pink dresses and carried bouquets of roses and Stargazer lilies. Flower girl was Brianna Johnson, daughter of the groom.
Eddie Johnson, brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Kevin Gafford, brother of the bride; Jack Carson; and Andrew James.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Anne Carson, pianist, and Randy James, soloist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Price Center in San Marcos. Family and friends enjoyed a buffet and a champagne toast to the bride and groom.
The bride is a graduate of San Marcos High School and Texas State University. She is employed as a second-grade teacher. The groom is a graduate of Spring High School, Spring, Texas, and is assigned to Fort Hood where he is in the 10th year of a career in the United States Army. He has completed three tours to Iraq and is the recipient of a Purple Heart.
The newlyweds will reside near Killeen.
