As I think about what to be thankful for during Thanksgiving 2020, I consider how resilient our region was in the last year.

Times of strife and hardship will define a person’s character. When faced with crisis, a person can either choose to face it or continue to run away. For San Marcos-born hip-hop and R&B creator Victor Uzimaki, the choice to stand and face his conflicts has been a long and difficult fight, but he’s used it to build up a well of strength, one he hopes to someday channel into something far larger than himself.

The cool season becomes like a garden celebration as much of the country changes out the old, tired color of summer for the fresh new flowers of fall and fragrance. There is a White Knight leading the charge that opens up the door with endless companion possibilities.
With Thanksgiving, Black Friday, the Holidays all coming up, will try to keep this short as know you have a lot of things to do. Incidentally, didn’t realize that reason they call the day after Thanksgiving ‘Black Friday’ was with all the shoppers taking advantage of the special sales on that day, many businesses see their profit-loss statement go in the black for the year.
My journey this year for Thanksgiving will find Judy and I at home eating turkey and pie without a gathering of family or friends. The virus is disruptive to our flow of annual events; it has changed the shopping, celebrating, traveling patterns for all of us.
