Animate Mazurek, a local web developer from tekRESCUE, will present an upcoming Zoom workshop about the dangers of phishing scams at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26. Meeting ID and password information will be posted on the San Marcos Public Library Facebook page and website ahead of the event.

As the summer draws to a close, many businesses in San Marcos are taking the tentative first steps toward re-opening. Some businesses and restaurants have opted to host outdoor seating and open-air markets in order to help spark the local economy while keeping patrons and vendors safe.

Eddie Durham was born August 19, 1906, in San Marcos, Texas, and passed away on March 6, 1987 in New York.
The Calaboose African American History Museum invites the public to its 5th Annual Eddie Durham Jazz Tribute on Saturday, Aug. 22, 7 - 10 p,m. CDT. Normally held in the Eddie Durham Park, on MLK Drive, the jazz tribute will take place online.
