Support for our officials important

By Arthur L. Taylor

In two latest issues of the Daily Record, I have read the communications from two responders Ms. Ollie Giles, And Mr. Dave Guenther of San Marcos. Most of the time I sit on the sidelines and contribute to our community when and where I can to support progress, growth and development.

I often times read and keep up with national issues because all government affairs affect our total existence as a people. However, many will attack the current president just as they have in past years with other presidents or elected officials.

I must say that I agree with both of them on the need to support and encourage support of our officials in office. The majority spoke in the elections and put them there so it had to be some level of confidence they could do the job.

Moreover, one should keep in mind that for every second past lends to our history, and every moment lends to our legacy, because our legacy is just that our personal history of existence. Often time we find that people speak although educated in many cases but without common sense, so now we know that common sense is not always common.

I have to wonder if our public sometimes expect too much too soon. Or if the expectation of Mr. Obama is simply a critical review of a black president rather than an elected leader, or the question of the ability of a black man to lead our nation. Sometime I ask these questions for self check and ask others to express their thoughts and views about the same.

You see, I believe we are a country in trouble and without a doubt, destined to self destruction with a desire to speed the process. The greatest lesson to be learned by every official and every citizen around the world is not the power one may process to control others, but the wisdom to persuade them.

We must as a people realize the strengths and weakness of a country can only be dictated by the mentality of mankind, so shall destruction be that which is man-made. We will Mr. Guenther and Ms. Giles win our challenges that you both speak of, but then we must also have faith and yet faith means sacrifice.

It is my personal view that we have many major unresolved problems in our country, and yet we live in the greatest county in the world, but until the time come that we as a people realize we are not two societies of black and white, but American people who need to heal the problems with-in ourselves and communicate an understanding to one another, then have we accomplished the most profound change in our lives.

For every second past equals one moment in time, and one moment in time leads to our individual history, and our history is our legacy.

Ignorance in our society is simply not acceptable, it’s just tolerated, and hopefully our individual legacy will reflect favorably when we are no longer. To all that are negative people, Let us not judge, but be prepared to be judged by an authority greater than mortal man. That judgment will count! Let’s open our minds and our hearts and give others a chance. At the end of the day there is no greater voice than vote!
