This is in response to Dottie Barnes’ recent diatribe against Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
Dottie Barnes apparently keeps one really big gunny sack for her Lloyd Doggett – watching tidbits of misinformation and misunderstandings. Did I miss her blaming him for the Great San Francisco Fire and the fall of the Alamo?
If she thinks that Congressman Doggett has her down, perhaps she should consider how our governor (and W) have led all of us down the path to the destruction of our public school system and our healthcare system while allowing air pollution to soar. These minor offensives are probably OK with Ms.Barnes.
Without Representative Doggett’s attention to our affairs, our economy would be in much worse shape than it is. By the way, wasn’t TARP a Bush program that Doggett and the Democrats have been left to clean up?
By the time the Stimulus bill has had time to do its job, Dottie will be glad to enjoy its benefits, but she won’t have to tell anyone.
The same goes for the healthcare legislation that is still in formation by
Congress.
It is estimated to produce a surplus, not a deficit, but apparently Rush does not pass that along to his loyalists. If Dottie had her way, all of us would be paying twice as much for healthcare in a few years than we do now. We would still have the most expensive and least effective system in the industrialized world.
There is one way that she can reduce her dependency on the evil of “socialized” medicine: opt out of Medicare for her (or her parents).
She might also want to opt out of Social Security, police and fire protection and the public highway system. That would make her a hero at the Tea Parties. Come to think of it, didn’t those parties do a whole lot for the good of the country? If you have a house fire, just call a Tea Party member to put it out.
Without Congressional action to control and reduce air pollution, the cost of treating Black Lung Disease is going to be much greater than any marginal cost attributable to cleaning up our air. In addition, the global warming caused by air pollution would likely dry up our valuable water
resources, such as Aquarena Springs.
