Big wheels roll into town
The sixth annual Jonathan Broderick Memorial skateboarding contest was held on Saturday and Sunday, with the street competition at the San Marcos
Skate Park.
Rye Beres, 12, of San Antonio took home first place for the 14-year-old and under competition with Aaron Garza, 13, of Kyle placing second and Cody Bjornson, 14, of Buda in third. Tino McLean, 14, of Kyle, Austin Herbert, 11, of San Antonio and Ashton Gallardo, 14, of San Marcos were finalists.
In the 15 to 18-year-old competition, Mark Dominic, 18, of San Antonio placed first, followed by Conor Kirwin, 15, of San Marcos in second and Keith Robinson, 16, of Buda in third. Adam Alexander, 16, of Kyle, Brandon Sanders, 18, of Kyle and Zac Hyde, 17, of San Marcos were finalists.
In the open competition, Tatsuya Hayashi, 20, of San Marcos took home first place. Rory Henry, 27, of San Marcos placed second and Zak Snyder, 18, of San Marcos placed third. Jerald Beach, 22, of Buda, Lucas Heilman, 18, of Lockhart and Corey Kenaley, 21, of New Braunfels were finalists.
Sunday’s competition took place at the CFAN ditch near Yarrington Road.
Proceeds from the competition will go to the design and construction of San Marcos skate parks.
