— Editor,
The Hays County CROP Hunger Walk was a success this past weekend, Sunday, Feb. 28. Our neighbors and friends contributed more than $4,300 to support hunger-fighting efforts here at home and around the world.
The Hays County Food Bank will receive approximately $1,433 to help feed hungry people in our area, and some $2870 will make possible the global work of Church World Service.
Just think, the funds raised here in Hays Count and in CROP Hunger Walks across the U.S. will make a difference in the lives of people around the world – from working with AIDS orphans in Africa, to aiding farm families
in Central America, and even assisting hurricane survivors here in the States as they continue to rebuild their homes and lives following Katrina's devastation.
Again, thank you to all who worked so hard to make this year's CROP Hunger Walk such a resounding success. Special kudos to First Christian Church, our #1 CROP Walkers for 2010.
Volunteering, walking, donating – we all have shown that citizens of Hays County are truly citizens of the world. See you next year at the CROP Hunger Walk, and God bless!
