Grand Jury indictments

San Marcos — Dozens of individuals were indicted by the Hays County Grand Jury during the panel’s February meeting. Those individuals, and the charges against them, are:

• Elvin Chavez, 45, of 8800 IH-35, Austin: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony, occurred Dec. 30, 2008.

• Michael Anthony Lopez, 20, of 1400 Clarewood Drive, Apt. 333: Aggravated kidnapping/family violence, two counts, occurred Dec. 4, 2008, one count first degree, one count second degree, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, occurred Dec. 5, 2008, second degree felony.

• Gilbert Louie Alarcon, 27, of 1610 Lennon Avenue, San Antonio: Assault/family violence, repeat offender, third degree felony, occurred Oct. 5, 2008.

Grand jury indictments are not findings of guilt. Rather, they reflect the opinion of jurors that there is sufficient evidence in each case to warrant trial.
