Forged script arrest

Police say more charges pending

By Anita Miller

San Marcos Police said the arrest on Thursday of a 26-year-old man accused of forging prescriptions should put a plug in a recent rash of phony scripts.

Frank Alfred Wilson of Seguin was taken into custody at the CVS Pharmacy on Hwy. 80 at 9:48 a.m. He faces three counts of prescription fraud/delivery of a controlled substance.

"There had been reports of fraudulent prescriptions being passed around town," said Sgt. Dave Waugh of the San Marcos Police Department, adding that Wilson had already been developed as a suspect" when he arrived to fill a prescription that had been dropped off.

Waugh said pharmacists were crucial in cracking the case.

It's not uncommon for a pharmacy to call us," he said. "Obviously they can check to see if it's a good prescription. It's not uncommon for people to have a stolen prescription pad or take something and make it up on their computer. Pharmacists see lots of prescriptions, so the’re pretty good at picking up on forged ones and will contact law enforcement."

Waugh said the prescription was for the pain killer phenergan-T codeine.
