At a time on Easter morning when many residents were in church or watching their children and grandchildren hunt Easter eggs, San Marcos police say one man here was so drunk he ran into a parked car.
John Bryan Childers, 30, of San Marcos was taken into custody not long after he allegedly hit a parked car on West San Antonio Street at 7:58 a.m.
According to SMPD Sgt. Fred Wisener, Childers was taken to Central Texas Medical Center until he "sobered up," then transferred to Hays County Jail at 1:35 p.m.
He is charged with driving while intoxicated and causing an accident that resulted in damage of more than $200 to another vehicle.
Wisener said a business owner on West San Antonio Street was standing in the doorway of his business when he saw a gray Toyota pickup smash into his car parked right outside.
The block has angle parking. Wisener said the impact pushed the parked car parallel to the curb.
An officer spotted the truck at Guadalupe Street and MLK Drive with "fresh damage."
Wisener said during his time at the hospital, Childers was also treated for a minor head wound.
