The San Marcos Lions Club has been roaring to get started – and this weekend it finally begins.
The local service organization will kick off its 2008 San Marcos River tubing season on Saturday.
The club’s popular tube rental in City Park and its concession stand at Rio Vista Falls will be open for business on weekends from May 3 - May 25, at which time it will begin daily operation during the summer months.
The Lions Club donates profits from all of its fundraising activities to local charities, social services and youth organizations.
“As more San Marcos residents and students stay in town over the summer, and as gasoline prices rise, it just makes sense to offer folks a family-oriented and fun activity right here. All they have to do is come to City Park and let the river, our tubes and our river taxis do the rest. It’s also a good way to help us raise funds to donate back to the community,” a club representative said.
The tube rental is open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., with the last tube rental at 5:50 p.m.
Additional information, including pricing, can be obtained by calling 396-5466 or visiting the Lions Club Web site at tubesanmarcos.com.
