Police have released the names of two suspects arrested on Monday in connection with a carjacking that began at Prime Outlet and ended east of Kyle.
Trinidad Olivares Jr., 19, of Buda, was charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest. He is being held in the Hays County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $700,000. Jackelyn Barajas, 24, of San Marcos, was charged with theft and a parole violation. She is being held on a bond of $20,000 for the theft charge. There no bond on the parole violation.
Police say the pair stole a car at gunpoint from a woman and her young son at the mall around 3:15 p.m. Monday.
While they drove away in the Chevrolet Tahoe, the victim called 911.
The vehicle was spotted near the intersection of the interstate and Hwy. 80, then turned up Hwy. 21.
San Marcos Police, with assistance from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the DPS, used a maneuver to forcefully stop the Tahoe on 21 near High Road.
The case remains under investigation.
