As Tuesday’s temperatures hit triple digits, the Salvation Army’s phone heated up, too.
The organization received several requests from residents who can’t afford them.
“Summertime, that’s our big demand,” said Delores Crittendon of the San Marcos Salvation Army.
Every year Crittendon buys a few fans, but the non-profit organization can not keep up with demand.
Fan donations can be dropped off at 1658 S IH-35 Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. Checks can be made out to the Salvation Army.
“People are glad to get anything that will blow air,” said Crittendon.
