Local Congressman Lloyd Doggett announced that J.T. McComb of Buda has won the Congressional Art Competition. The winning entry, entitled “Armadillo,” is a color photograph of a nine-banded Texas armadillo. His framed artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
“Our winner has captured on film this iconic Texas image. I know the patience that wildlife photography requires is immense.” said Congressman Doggett.
McComb is an eleventh-grade student at Jack C. Hays High School, where he is a student of art teacher Dan Niendorff. McComb is the son of Keith and Michelle McComb. Keith McComb is a general contractor with McComb Construction in Austin, and Michelle is a registered nurse with Humana Health Care. The family has won a trip to Washington, D.C. at the end of June to attend a ceremony honoring Congressional Art Competition winners from across the Nation.
