Planned Kyle area fire just a training exercise

Kyle The smoke rising from the Kyle countryside this weekend will be a sign of fire ... but one which Kyle firefighters expect to have well under control.

The Kyle Fire Department has scheduled a training exercise Saturday morning to burn the field between Wallace Middle School and Hometown Kyle subdivision.

The backup day for the burn is Sunday.

Residents living in the Hometown Kyle development are advised to:

• Be aware that the Kyle Fire Department and Kyle Police Department will be on the scene and to only call 911 if you feel the fire is getting too close to your home.

• Stay indoors as smoke will irritate breathing;

• Avoid the roads in this area to allow access for emergency vehicles.

• Make sure all pets and children are accounted for during the exercise.

This training exercise will also act as a “pre-burn” for the fireworks show scheduled for the July 4 fireworks show.
