Two men were injured in separate instances late Tuesday and early Wednesday, but only one of them has someone else to blame.
Police said the other was injured in the process of committing an illegal act.
The first incident — and the one resulting in the most serious injury — occurred outside Bum’s Billiards around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Sgt. Fred Wisener of the San Marcos Police Department, officers were dispatched to the business on East Hopkins for a report of an assault.
The 42-year-old victim reportedly said the suspect shut a metal door on his face causing pain. Wisener said the two men stepped outside and an altercation ensued.
The victim told police he was kicked in the face while he was on the ground.
The blow broke his jaw in two places, Wisener said, and after initial treatment at Central Texas Medical Center, the victim was taken to Austin’s University Medical Center at Brackenridge.
“An arrest was not made but the suspect was identified by witnesses,” Wisener said.
The second incident occurred in the 100 block of Craddock Avenue early on Wednesday.
Wisener said officers responding to the scene of a physical disturbance found a 24-year-old man “highly intoxicated” and with an injured hand.
He said the man is accused of destroying property belonging to a woman, including a laptop computer, an iPod dock and furniture.
“During his path of destruction he broke his hand,” Wisener said.
Police took him to CTMC where he received four stitches before being taken to jail.
