EAA directors declared

The Edwards Aquifer Authority board of directors, at its regular meeting Oct. 14, cancelled elections in six of nine director districts and declared the unopposed candidates in each district elected to office. 

Of the six unopposed candidates declared elected to office, four are incumbents: Byron Miller (Dist. 2-Bexar County), Susan Kutcher Hughes (Dist. 6-Bexar County), Mark B. Taylor (Dist. 11-Caldwell/Hays counties), and Mario H. Cruz (Dist. 14-Uvalde County); and two are newcomers: Pat Stroka (Dist. 10-Hays County) and Adam Yablonski (Dist. 12-Medina County).  Each will be sworn into office in December, following the November general election.

The three other district director positions up for election this year have contested races.

They are: District 4-Bexar County; District 5-Bexar County; and District 8-Comal County.  The election is Nov. 4. Early voting begins Oct. 20.

 

In other action, directors adopted a 2009-2011strategic plan, which maps out the work of the Authority over the next three years.  The Authority’s board updates and then adopts the plan annually.
