The first Lehman Leadership Summit gets good reviews

Kyle Kyle Mayor Mike Gonzalez and Lehman High School Principal Elsa Hinojosa recently joined together to organize the first ever “Leadership Summit” at Lehman High School.

The goal of the summit was to share the personal experiences and challenges faced by local leaders and business professionals with Lehman High School students.

Recruited by Gonzalez, the leadership summit panel included, Dr. Patrick Garcia, Seton Hospital; Ruben Lopez, business owner; Sandra Tenorio, Buda council member, Dr. Francisco Hernandez, CTMA and Ray Hernandez, director Kyle Chamber Gonzalez.

Hinojosa organized and selected 38 students of various grade levels to participate in the summit.

Students were able to have one-on-one discussion with panel members to discuss the student’s future goals and receive advice on overcoming personal challenges.

Panel members also guided students on how to pursue the specific profession they represented.

Several students said they were interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. In the spirit of National Hispanic Heritage Months, the summit focused on local Hispanic leaders.

Gonzalez hopes to recruit other local leaders to participate in future panels at various campuses throughout Hays County.

“We hope to design a system where local professionals can easily donate two hours of their time to motivate, inspire and guide local high school students in various professions,” he said.
