Black Friday is so last year.
The day after Thanksgiving used to be when shoppers hit stores in force trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on their lists.
Then it was midnight on Friday. This year, many merchants didn’t wait even that long.
The Tommy Hilfiger store at Tanger Outlet Center opened at 8 p.m. Thursday, Kenneth Cole at 9 p.m. and Tommy’s Kids at 10 p.m., said mall spokeswoman Michelle Carswell. At Prime Outlets across McCarty Lane, Aeropostale opened at 9 p.m., spokeswoman Rachia Green said.
Then at 10 minutes until midnight, shoppers and employees from both malls met up at New Turneau at Tanger, where a just-completed seven foot high tower clock counted down.
Shoppers at Prime Outlets will find places to donate new, unwrapped toys to Operation Blue Santa — and if they do, they’ll get a complimentary coupon book, Green said.
