Deadline: Sign up for BEC stipends

— Graduating high school seniors interested in Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative's scholarships of excellence have until 5 p.m. Friday, March 19, to submit applications for a one-time, $2,000 scholarship.

Bluebonnet will award scholarships to 20 students seeking trade and technical certificates or degrees and 15 students seeking degrees from a university, college, or a community or junior college.

“The deadline for applications for Bluebonnet's scholarship of excellence is nearly upon us,” Johnny Sanders, Bluebonnet's manager of governmental affairs and economic development, said. “Every graduating senior and their parents or guardians who are Bluebonnet members should take advantage of this great opportunity to help pay for some of their education.

“Bluebonnet knows how valuable an education is and how expensive tuition can be. We are glad to be able to invest in the future workforce and support the students, schools and communities in our service area,” Sanders said.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative serves nearly 80,000 meters and owns and maintains about 11,000 miles of power lines, located across more than 3,800 square miles within 14 southeastern Texas counties.
