The San Marcos City Clerk's office will hold a Passport Fair in Kyle on Saturday, July 18 to help Kyle area residents apply for passports for
travel to other countries, including Mexico and Canada.
The event will take place at the HEB, 5401 South FM 1626 in Kyle from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Because of new regulations taking place, the Clerk's Office has seen a huge increase of applicants from the Buda and Kyle area," said City
Clerk Sherry Mashburn.
On June 1, the U.S. government implemented the full requirements of the land and sea phase of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
The rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or other
travel document approved by the Department of Homeland Security.
Applicants wishing to obtain a passport should bring the following information: a certified birth certificate, naturalization or previous
passport, two passport photos and a valid photo I.D. Please check the web-site for information regarding passport requirements at
www.travel.state.gov.
For more information on this event, please contact the City Clerk's office at 393-8090.
