Local students receive achievement awards
38 SMHS sophomores are honored by Texas ACT
San Marcos — Thirty-eight San Marcos High School sophomores recently received the “Texas Student Achievement Award” from the Texas ACT Council for their performances on the PLAN (the Pre-ACT) Assessment.
These students are on target to meet or exceed ACT's College Readiness Benchmarks by graduation.
ACT's College Readiness Benchmarks are empirically-based and identify the level of achievement necessary in English, mathematics, reading and science to have a successful college freshman experience.
The students receiving this recognition from the Texas ACT Council were: Alex Aranda, Adam Berglund, Joshua Brown, Kaitlin Burroughs, Kyla Crumley, Marcus Cruz, Stevie Dow, Myles Ehrlich, Sara Fox, Sterling Gutierrez, Shelby Hebert, Bryan Jenkins, Samantha Jennings, Christopher Johnson, Ruben Juarez, Jacob Lucas, Daniela Martinez, Jamie Martinez, Rebecca McAlister, Mercedes Mendoza, Christian Moreno, Jonathan Moreno, Kelsey Nagy, Rex Pape, Payal Patel, Angela Pates, Bryan Perez, Michael Reed, Sebastian Romano, Kash Seward, Kelsie Singleton, Victoria Snyder, Nathan Stone, Ty Stonecipher, Keegan Taylor, Jesse Valero, Austin Wallace and Jamie Williamson.
The students were presented their certificates during the annual Awards Ceremony at the high school in late May.
The Texas ACT Council is made up of secondary and postsecondary educators.
ACT, Inc. is the not-for-profit organization that provides assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development and the publisher of the ACT Assessment.
