Hays County Sheriff Tommy Ratliff last week hosted a going away event for newly appointed Buda Police Chief Bo Kidd. Chief Kidd was most recently assigned to the Hays County Narcotics Task Force, and prior to that assignment he had been the Hays County Sheriff's Office Buda Patrol Captain.
Chief Kidd began his new position with the city of Buda on Tuesday.
Kidd began his law enforcement career as a corrections officer with the Hays County Sheriff's Office in November 1994.
After obtaining a Peace Officer License, he was moved to patrol as a deputy in January 1997, was promoted to detective in October 1998, to sergeant in October 2002, and to captain in August 2004. He became the Buda Patrol Captain when the Buda patrol contract began.
Hays County Sheriff Tommy Ratliff and members of his staff wished Chief Kidd the best as he steps off into a new direction in his law enforcement career.
Hays County and the Sheriff's Office will work with the city of Buda to make the changeover from county law enforcement to municipal law enforcement a smooth transition, officials said.
