Ranch plans pulled

Windemere variance application withdrawn

San Marcos — Residents along and off Lime Kiln Road upset about the Windemere Ranch Subdivision can cool their heels, at least for the time being.

After pulling a request for variances from city code concerning sidewalks and access roads twice in two months, the developer has “withdrawn the application totally,” according to Cecil Pennington, interim Planning Department director.

“The application is closed at this moment,” Pennington said.

That said, the developer could come back at some future time, Pennington said, noting that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is currently doing a geological assessment of the proposed subdivision’s location. Public comment on that application is open through Sept. 6.

“They are touching all the bases. They aren’t trying to shortcut or bypass things,” Pennington said. But until the TCEQ assessment is complete, “we’re not going to move forward with anything else” on that property.

Pennington said the application for variances the developer has withdrawn wouldn’t have any impact on the environmental and geological assessment.
