Auto Outlet burglary is investigated

Weekend incident left doors, glass broken

San Marcos — San Marcos Police continue to look at “several possible suspects” in connection with a weekend burglary at San Marcos Auto Outlet.

SMPD Sgt. Dave Waugh said investigators are examining photographs and fingerprints taken from the scene on Sunday.

He said the break-in occurred Saturday night, and was initially brought to police attention by a couple who flagged an officer down after finding part of a glass door broken.

Detectives later found the place a mess, with more broken doors and evidence of rummaging through tool boxes and elsewhere.

Additionally, three vehicles were stolen. Two of them — a 2008 Nissan Ultima and a 2008 Nissan 350Z — were later recovered by authorities in Bexar County and New Braunfels, respectively. Still missing is a 2008 Nissan Maxima.

Other vehicles at the dealership had been broken into, he said.

Waugh said investigating officers believe “several subjects” participated in the crime.

The list of possible suspects includes former employees, Waugh said.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 753-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 353-TIPS from the San Marcos calling area or at (800) 324-TIPS toll-free from anywhere.
