Wednesday, July 1

• Ribbon Cutting of Post Road Project, 9 a.m. at Travis Elementary School and Post Road to celebrate completion of Post Road Street, Drainage, Utility, Bicycle Lane and Sidewalk Project.

• Beautification Committee, 11:30 a.m. Grant Harris Jr. Building., 401 E. Hopkins.



Thursday, July 2

• Historic Preservation Commission, 5:45 p.m., City Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.



Friday, July 3

• Independence Day Holiday. city offices, including City Hall, Library, Activity Center, and Utility Offices will be closed for the Fourth of July Independence Day Holiday.

• Rio Vista Swimming Pool will be open from 12-1 p.m. for lap swim and 1 to 6 p.m. for open swim.

• Texas Disposal System will operate Friday trash collection and recycling routes.



Saturday, July 4

• Celebrate the 4th of July at the 29th Annual Summerfest: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park, Live Music, Patriotic Program, Children's Parade and Costume Contest, Food and Vendor Booths, and spectacular Fireworks Display.

• Rio Vista Swimming Pool will be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

• Activity Center will be open and Library will be closed Saturday.

  • Narvaiz won’t seek fourth term

    San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz said Wednesday she will not seek re-election to a fourth term in November.
    “After months of thought and prayer, I have decided not to seek another term as Mayor of San Marcos,” Narvaiz said in a released statement. “I am incredibly grateful for the support of our community, the dedication of city staff, the hard work by the city council and the great achievements of the past eight and a half years of my service to the city.”
