A man who gave an address out of Arkansas is being held in Caldwell County on charges including a first-degree felony in the wake of a disturbance at a local RV park.
Kenneth Dewayne James, 43, is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and family violence.
According to Sgt. Paul Cowan, spokesman for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on Friday, Sept. 3 to a disturbance at the Salamander RV Park on CR 101 in Caldwell County (Hays County CR 266) at the San Marcos River.
Cowan said James assaulted a 24-year-old male member of his household, and that a 22-year-old woman described as a neighbor stepped in to try and stop it. James is charged with assaulting them both.
Cowan said James then “obtained a shotgun” and “forced the male victim into a motor vehicle and left the scene.”
They later turned up at Central Texas Medical Center where James sought treatment for a hand and arm injury. A Caldwell County deputy came to San Marcos and placed James under arrest.
James remains in Caldwell County Jail under bonds totaling $70,000.
The aggravated kidnapping is a first-degree felony.
Cowan said the case remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
