San Marcos Police are investigating two assaults that occurred Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Two men were arrested in connection with one, and police know the identity of the suspect in the second, SMPD Sergeant Dave Waugh said.
Arrested in connection with an attack downtown were 38-year-old Ernest Alva and 36-year-old Gabrial Alva Vasquez.
Waugh said police responded to the 100 block of West San Antonio near Nephew’s just after 2 a.m. Tuesday and found the 37-year-old victim on the sidewalk. They learned from the victim and witnesses that the victim had been jumped by two Hispanic men outside the bar.
After the attack, they fled in a dark colored vehicle.
Waugh said the vehicle, and suspects, were found later in the parking lot at Chili’s. He said the victim had bruising and swelling on his head, face and upper body. He was taken by EMS to Central Texas Medical Center.
The other case occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Waugh said two 15-year-old boys were playing outside the Texas Preparatory School in the 400 block of Uhland Road when a vehicle pulled up and a man known by at least one of them got out, “yelled a profanity,” and pointed a gun at them.
Just about that time, someone walked out of a nearby business and the man got back in his black Chevrolet Equinox and fled in the direction of IH-35.
Waugh said detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to investigate the case.
