4 dead in San Antonio in apparent murder-suicide

San Antonio — Police say a man shot three people in a San Antonio home, then turned the gun on himself after the young children inside saw their dead mother and fled for help.

San Antonio police early Thursday had yet to release the name of the gunman or his relationship to the victims. The shootings happened late Wednesday on a quiet cul-de-sac in a gated community on the city's north side.

Authorities say the gunman entered the home with two handguns, killing two men and the mother of three children. San Antonio police Sgt. Chris Benavides said the children had been playing when they heard the gunshots.

The children were taken into protective custody.

Authorities didn't immediately know the motive, but said the gunman appeared to know the people in the home.
