Andrea White to speak Aug. 7


— Andrea White, novelist and wife of gubernatorial candidate Bill White, will be in Wimberley Aug. 7 at the Wimberley Community Center at 7 p.m.

White will talk about her latest book, “P.S. Passionate Supporter and Political Spouse.”

The event, sponsored by Wimberley Valley for Bill White, is open to the public.

Andrea White grew up in Houston, attended Memorial High School, then the University of Texas, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. 

Following graduation from the UT School of Law, she became one of the first women partners in the law firm Locke Liddell in Houston.

Andrea and Bill White have been married for 25 years and are the parents of Will, Elena and Stephen.

White's first book, “Surviving Antarctica,” a novel for teenage readers, was published in 2005.

It was included on the reading lists of several states, including the Texas Bluebonnet list In 2006, and she won the Golden Spur Children’s Literature award given by the Texas State Reading Association.

 Her next book, “Window Boy,” was about a boy in a wheelchair who is a basketball genius.

In addition to writing, White serves as a community volunteer.

In partnership with the Houston Independent School District Board, White and her husband started Expectation Graduation, a program to keep students in school.
