The San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) received two awards at the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) Idea Fair at the organization’s Annual conference held in San Marcos.
Although selections were determined in August, official presentations were made during the TACVB Mid-Winter Conference which was held Jan. 17-19 in Laredo.
The San Marcos CVB was voted both best in their budget category by industry peers and best overall with Judges Choice Awards in two categories: Convention Promotion and Advertising.
The TACVB Annual Conference allows employees from Convention & Visitor Bureaus throughout the state to come together for education, networking, idea inspiration and other travel and convention-related topics.
In addition, attendees take part in an “Idea Fair” competition where cities display programs and campaigns created over the past year to promote their city to leisure travelers and meeting planners.
Members then vote on a winning entry for each of the eight categories including: Advertising, Convention Promotion, Web Site, Local Awareness Campaigns, Cooperative Marketing, National Tourism Week, Tourism Promotion and Sports Marketing.
“Receiving awards from industry peers and professionals is a major accolade. The talented team of professionals, that is the San Marcos CVB, pride ourselves in marketing the beautiful city of San Marcos and welcoming leisure and business travelers” Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez, executive director of the San Marcos CVB, said.
The Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus is the largest association of CVBs in the nation and was organized in 1972 for the purpose of providing cooperative action to enhance and encourage the growth of the convention and visitor industry in Texas.
