San Marcos — The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce’s first ever Green Living Showcase will take place at the city of San Marcos Conference Center Saturday, March 20.
Organizers say it will bring together homeowners and business people for a day of workshops, exhibits and demonstrations focused on providing all participants with many tools and resources to help them move toward a cleaner and greener future.
The free event will feature tips on green building, energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, commuting solutions, alternative energy ideas and earth-friendly products.
Exhibitors who have already signed on include: San Marcos Toyota, LCRA, Innovative Water Solutions, Heritage Tree Care, Josiesque Designs, Green Guy Recycling and the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Workshop presenters already confirmed include: “Mr. Smarty Plants” on Native Landscaping, Eric Beckers with the Texas Forest Service on Oak Wilt prevention and treatment, STAR – State of Texas Alliance for Recycling on recycling options and Rick Burleson, Burleson Design group on green building, remodeling and weatherization.
“We believe that the showcase will not only provide an excellent marketing and networking opportunity for those members who wish to be exposed to a larger audience and are looking for ways to incorporate sustainability into their lifestyles, but it will also demonstrate San Marcos’ commitment to quality of life enhancements that will attract new residents and businesses looking at the IH-35 Corridor,” Clay DeStefano, chair of the Chamber’s Natural Resources Committee, said.
For sponsorship and registration information call 393-5900 or visit the Green Living Showcase Web site at www.glshowcase.com.
