The Austin Community College District (ACC) is hosting an information session for individuals interested in obtaining alternative teacher certification credentials.
On Monday, ACC’s Center for Teacher Certification will provide details about the program, which offers training for math, science, bilingual and special education certification. Individuals must have a college degree in order to participate.
“This is an excellent opportunity – particularly considering the downturn in the economy,” says Sharon Duncan, director of teacher certification. “The demand for teachers will never go away.”
The program focuses on preparing new teachers for the realities they will face in the classroom. ACC partners with local school districts and state agencies to provide the best training.
“Modeling how to teach and apply best practices is our number one goal,” says Duncan. ACC’s Center for Teacher Certification has placed graduates in the Austin, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Taylor, San Marcos, Round Rock, Del Valle and Leander districts.
