Dr. John E. Deleon will be joining Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) in January as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student success at Mountain View College in Dallas.
As Chief Academic Officer, DeLeon will be responsible for science, nursing, arts/humanities and physical education; business, computers, mathematics and technical programs; educational resources and distance education; communications and social sciences; school alliance and institutional outreach; alternative teacher certification; instruction and instructional curriculum and resources.
DeLeon, son of Ascension and the late Carmen DeLeon, is a former resident of San Marcos and Martindale.
He currently lives in Houston with this wife Elsa and children Elysa and Jeremiah. His eldest son Joshua resides in San Marcos.
At present DeLeon provides leadership as Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences for Lone Star College-North Harris.
His previous experiences include head of Engineering Technology at Kansas State University and faculty member in the Department of Engineering and Technology for Texas State University.
In addition, he has completed three administrative training programs: Harvard Institute for Higher Education Management Development Program, American Council on Education Fellowship Program and Texas State University-San Marcos Presidential Fellow Program.
DCCD comprises seven colleges.
