Dripping Springs — A Dripping Springs man remains in jail after having been charged with two counts of endangering a child.
Charles E. Phillips, 43, was indicted on those two counts by the Hays County Grand Jury in December. However, he was not taken into custody until after the indictments were issued, so county officials “secured” the indictment until he was served with the two warrants.
The grand jury ended its session Dec. 16; Phillips was arrested Dec. 21. A bond of $10,000 was set on each of the two counts.
The offenses are state jail felonies punishable by from six months to two years behind bars.
According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to Phillips’ mobile home on Henly Loop on Sept. 4 and found his children living in filthy conditions.
The children were returned to their mother; deputies documented the scene and turned the case over to the District Attorney’s Office, said Lt. Leroy Opiela.
