The Martindale City Council recently requested the assistance from Gary Job Center in designing the city seal.
Jon Stark, Print Shop coordinator, said he considered it an opportunity for a student to exercise artistic talent and become one of only a handful of people who have actually designed a city seal from the beginning idea to the finished product.
After several meetings with city officials and residents at city council sessions Stark and Gilberto Jasso, Gary Business Office Technology student, drew up a design from photos around Martindale.
Stark said Martindale is a city with its roots firmly planted in its history as well as a city with great potential, thus “Embracing the past, Creating the future” was written in Latin on the Seal.
The Martindale City Council recently adopted the seal.
