‘Preserve America’ deadline is nearing
Dec. 1 is the final 2009 deadline to submit an application to become a Preserve America Community.
This designation recognizes communities that protect and celebrate their heritage, use historic assets for economic development and downtown revitalization and encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources through education and heritage tourism programs.
Several benefits of becoming a Preserve America Community include White House recognition, eligibility for Preserve America grants and enhanced community visibility and pride.
Four application and designation cycles occur each year. The next application deadline is March 1, 2010.
