Caldwell County drug bust sends father, son to jail
Caldwell County authorities say a father and son arrested for first-degree drug possession had, between them, 16 prior arrests.
They were also both on probation or parole.
Marcus Maldonado, 50, and his son Jacob Maldonado, 22, were taken into custody after a two-month investigation.
Officers with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Chisholm Trail Special Crimes Unit who made the arrests also seized “multiple ounces of cocaine” and more than $2,200 in cash. They estimated the street value of the cocaine in excess of $13,400.
Both men were charged with possession of a controlled substance under 400 grams, which is a first degree felony.
The elder Maldonado was on parole at the time of his arrest so he is being held without bail.
His son, who was on state probation for possession of a controlled substance, was also arrested on two outstanding “motion to revoke” probation warrants. He is being held under bonds totaling $222,000.
“The arrest of these individuals underscores the continuing efforts of the sheriff's office and Chisholm Trail Special Crime Unit to remove drug offenders from our community,” Caldwell Sheriff Daniel Law said.
Law’s spokesman Sgt. Paul Cowan said more arrests may follow.
